Beginner Windsurfing
We run sessions alongside the beginners and rec sailing at Ripon sailing club. It’s a great place to learn as the water is only shoulder deep! Don’t worry if you haven’t got any kit – we have wetsuits, boots and windsurf kit ready for use! We provide full tuition, which includes on-land demonstrations as well as one-one tuition on the water. So, if there is something you particularly want to learn – don’t hesitate to ask! Most importantly, we make sure we have a lot of fun! If the wind disappears, we tend to make use of the pool table in the club or have a nice refreshing drink on the shore. We try to fit as many windsurfing trips in before the end of November (basically until we stop feeling our feet), and then we begin sessions again around March. Of course, if you still want to windsurf throughout the winter, you are more than welcome! After sessions, we sometimes have a meal at the Charles pub or stop for fish and chips. In the warmer weeks we will have a BBQ! We also hope to attend some of the SWA events which is a great opportunity to meet like-minded students for an unforgettable weekend of windsurfing and drunken debauchery. |
Intermediate and Advanced Windsurfing
We have been lucky enough to get some brand-new kit through a Sport England grant giving us some gorgeous JP freeride boards and a full set of Point-7 sails. We’ll try to advertise on sessions when the wind is looking good! The SWA events provide the perfect platform to improve your intermediate and advanced technique through the free tuition offered. |
